Gayna Horridge, Practice Manager at Cahill Dental Care CentreTen years ago, the Cahill Dental Care Centre was an extremely hectic and stressful place to work. Trying to see as many patients as possible on the NHS, we had four dentists, two hygienists and numerous nurses and receptionists for support. It was at this point that we reached a crossroads; it was time to either convert the practice to private or be stuck in a rut forever.
At this point we began to look at the options available to us and Practice Plan seemed much fairer than the other schemes available at the time. We were able to offer our patients a dental plan that provided the highest level of care throughout the year but they were able to budget for this with the affordable monthly payment system. Also, the plan is personalised to the practice, so you don’t feel you are promoting another company, only yourself. On that basis we selected Practice Plan as our plan provider.
All the staff were informed and immense training and support was given by Practice Plan to help us with our conversion, including helpful hints on what to say to people if they objected to our decision to go private. The conversion went very well, obviously it didn’t please everyone at the time and some sought NHS treatment elsewhere, but I am very pleased to say that many have returned back to us over the years!
The whole process is made easy for you with Practice Plan and you are not the ones who are left to do all the hard work. Ten years down the line Practice Plan are still there to support us in everything we do, to grow and improve our business.
The general support from Practice Plan in all areas is great. Any queries we have are dealt with promptly and efficiently. We have been lucky to have fabulous, enthusiastic and supportive Regional Support Managers, such as Shelley and most recently Suki. They have worked by our side from the start and still visit us on a regular basis, they have been so very helpful and supportive with anything that we want to do.
Over the years we have benefitted greatly from their range of services. The marketing support has been exceptional. We have worked closely with the marketing team who have helped us to design posters, leaflets and write press releases, which takes the pressure off us a little so we can concentrate on other things.
We have attended many of the workshops and have always left each one with a huge action plan to follow. Just when you think you couldn’t possibly implement any more into your practice a new idea always comes along. Each year we are also entitled to a half day consultancy from one of the many experts that Practice Plan use, such as Sheila Scott, who cover a wide range of topics to suit your practice. Again, this helps us to improve and implement new ideas.
Since those days when we first converted, the Cahill Dental Care Centre is now an award-winning single handed practice, much smaller and a lot less hectic and stressful! We have more time with our patients to provide them with the service that we want to give, which makes their experience better and improves our working life. We also have a regular monthly income from our patients who are on the plan.
I would definitely recommend Practice Plan to other practices that are thinking of converting from NHS to Private, they have been, and continue to be, outstanding.
