About Nicola:

As a qualified accountant Nicola had a 37 year career in a variety of finance related jobs, mainly within local government. In 2015, after taking redundancy Nicola decided to try her hand at other things, one of those being volunteering with Samaritans. The whole process of reaching a full listening volunteer took about 10 months and, after a while, became interested in doing some outreach work starting with sessions about emotional health in schools. This led to a brilliant project working with Storyhouse Young Company making a video for young people. Nicola was then appointed to Deputy Director for Outreach at Chester Samaritans with  responsibility for activities outside the branch.

Samaritans is a registered charity aimed at providing emotional support to anyone in emotional distress, struggling to cope, or at risk of suicide throughout the United Kingdom and Ireland. You can access details of the services provided, donate or volunteer through their website https://www.samaritans.org/.
