As well as offering a first-class service to customers, Practice Plan aims to provide support to members of the dental profession in general through its programme of webinars and events.
Covering subjects as diverse as sustainability, finances and recruitment and retention, our webinars bring together our in-house experts with leading figures in dentistry to share knowledge and expertise. As each one includes a question-and-answer session at the end, they also present an opportunity for attendees to interact with the participants as well.
Stellar participants
Our next webinar, this time hosted by Dental Update, takes place on 29th April. Attendees will be able to join Eddie Crouch, Chair of the British Dental Association (BDA) Principal Executive Committee, and Nigel Jones, Practice Plan Director and member of Dentistry’s Top 50, as they discuss one of the most important subjects in the dental world at the moment: the current state of NHS dentistry and what what the coming year might hold for the profession.
For some, the new Labour government brought fresh hope, and with the BDA initially stating talks with the new government had opened the door to NHS contract reform, it’s a good time to try to find out how much progress is being made. Is there hope for the profession, or are more false promises being made?
After many years of criticising the previous Conservative government, has Labour realised that solving the problems of NHS dentistry is a harder nut to crack than they believed? Perhaps now they have come to understand what Voltaire meant when he said, “When it is a question of money, everybody is of the same religion.”
Has all hope gone?
Are we wrong to interpret the deafening silence on contract reform as a negative sign? Or is it a case of no news is good news? How will the changes to the minimum wage and employer’s National Insurance contributions affect practices struggling with increases in costs of more than 10% on an uplift of only 6%? Also, how long is too long to wait for change? The current contract – imposed on the profession in 2006 – has fuelled workforce and access crises that continue to plague NHS dentistry. With an exodus already in motion, the BDA says reform won’t wait – a good contract won’t work if there is no workforce left by the time it’s finally introduced.
This webinar is not to be missed, so book your place now to join Eddie and Nigel on Tuesday 29th April at 7.00 pm to find out their thoughts on this hot topic, including what action is likely to be taken, both in the short term and long term, and get the chance to share your views too.
