Being a Regional Support Manager for Practice Plan can sometimes mean that we never know from one day to another what might get thrown at us. Being prepared and utilising our good time management skills can go out the window if something pops up out of the blue, like a particularly nasty storm, for example. But is a bit of rain and wind likely to stop me? For people who know me well, the answer is always going to be the same. I took on the challenges of the stormy weather and headed to South Cornwall.
I am blessed and truly fortunate to look after one of the most stunning areas in the country. My border starts in Gloucestershire and heads down to the Lizard in Cornwall, with a vast difference in terrain, people, accents and cultures.
So why was I adamant that I wasn’t going to reschedule this particular meeting?
Since Practice Plan became part of the Wesleyan Group, I’m always looking at ways to let my clients know the varied ways in which we can support them, including financial advice on pensions, mortgages, investments and loans. With the introduction of auto-enrolment, pensions continue to be top of the agenda for many of my practices. So, when I let my clients know that our Wesleyan Financial Advisors would be more than happy to meet them and provide valuable information to enable them to move forward, I was inundated with requests.
I’m always looking at ways to let my clients know the varied ways in which we can support them.
So today’s purpose was twofold. One of my key clients had agreed that the whole team would meet Magdelena Harding, the Wesleyan Financial Advisor for Devon and Cornwall, to explain the pension changes. I then had a review meeting to discuss the situation of the pending ‘internal buyout,’ resulting in a change of ownership at the practice.
The meeting was a huge success with the whole team feeling a lot more comfortable with the detail of the pension changes and how this will impact them. The practice owner even remarked that she had learnt more listening to Magdelena’s presentation, than she had in all of her meetings with her accountant on the same issue. What’s more, the session also gave me further knowledge of the challenges our clients face, as well as the important decisions that have to be made.
As a company we are always prepared to go that extra mile to develop the growth of their business.
I also covered everything in my review meeting with the current and proposed new owner and we have an agreed plan on how we move forward. It’s certainly exciting times ahead for this practice and I’m honoured to be invited and involved in their new chapter. For me, it reinforces to my Practice Plan clients that I always have their best interest at heart, and as a company we are always prepared to go that extra mile to develop the growth of their business.
I wonder what tomorrow’s challenges will bring?
